Joe and Sheryl first met in Colorado Springs at Star Ranch
while Joe was attending an International Conference with an International from
Ethiopia. Joe started to receive her
prayer letters for the next 3 years.
By then both had finished their college years with Bas, Joe was a Bachelor in Science and Sheryl in Bible with minor in missions. Joe was working in a hospital as a Respitorary Therapist while Sheryl was on staff with ISI (International Student Inc.) in New York City then later in Atlanta, GA.
They reconnected while Joe was attending class at ATS (Alliance Theological Seminary) in Nyack, NY. Sheryl by then had returned to NJ to help care for her Dad. They married about 1 ½ years later. Spent their first year of marriage in Nyack as Joe finished up his last year at ATS and Sheryl worked for Pocket Testament League help inmates with a correspondence course on the Gospel of John.
During their 25 + years of marriage, they lived and traveled extensively overseas and in US, making their current home in Mesa, AZ since September of 2012. They lived in 2 Center American countries for almost 10 years where they raised their 3 daughters (Beth, Christina & Sarah). They returned to US as a family in 2007 where they lived until Oct 2010.
Even though they loved living in Central America and traveling to other countries in South America, Mediterranean Sea area and Joe to Korea, their heart is to connect with the nations of the world who like them have had to learn to live and enjoy a place different from their home country in areas of language, culture, world views, different styles of teaching and learning, different religions, etc.
Joe and Sheryl have always had a heart for ALL nations even before they met. Amazingly even though they know more about Central American, they love, connect and are drawn well with all internationals. Their girls are third cultural as well and love to be with internationals and others who think more multicultural, so when home feel at home with relating to the internationals that Joe and Sheryl are relating too. Currently all three girls and their son-in-law are students at John Brown University in AR. They too have a heart to help people and are excited to see how God develops all this in their lives. Joe and Sheryl feel blessed in many areas and love being part of internationals lives!
